Born and raised in Toronto, Mrs. Hunter graduated from Toronto General Hospital with a nursing degree and immigrated to the United States. She worked as an R.N. at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City, where she met her first husband, Max Greulich, whom she married in 1951.

She also attended aerobic and fitness classes in the Montclair YMCA. Following the death of her first husband, she married Charles Hunter in 1983, and the couple enjoyed many trips exploring regions of Europe and the United Kingdom.

Mrs. Hunter was predeceased in 1979 by her first husband, Max Arthur Greulich; and her son, Douglas Arthur Greulich, in 1980.
